About the Church:
As an urban church, St. John's celebrates its diversity as a catalyst for personal and spiritual growth. Our members say they've found a church that:
- Encourages open dialogue on questions of faith; and one in which it is okay to change your mind
- Values children, and welcomes them on their own terms... a church children are eager to attend on Sunday morning
- Acts locally and thinks globally on the great issues of our time... world peace; women's rights; racial justice, homelessness; gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights; and protection of the environment
St. John's is a place where you too can find your passion and your place. Our 250 members -- singles, families, single-parent families, the elderly, young adults, and everything in between -- enthusiastically share in the church's various ministries.
Small Group Ministries that develop deeper connections, foster individual growth, and encourage service include:
- Chalice Groups of 7-9 people meet monthly for discussion, mutual support and community service
- Adult Religious Exploration programs include World Religions, Building Your Own Theology, A Course in Miracles, Environmental Responsibility.
- Adult and Youth Choirs offer musical enrichment, plus promote diversity and social conscience by the music they sing
- Social Activities includepotlucks, YADA (young adults), LAFS (over 50), Interweave (GLBT support), Game Night, and First Friday Flicks.
Outreach to the larger world includes:
- Grants to Greater Cincinnati non-profit organizations
- Music Series and Art Gallery showcase local change-making artists
- New Orleans Volunteers help with rebuilding
- Friends of Szentlaszlo assist our Romanian partner congregation
