About the Church:
First Unitarian Church is a vibrant congregation of 270 members, who come from a 20 mile radius to worship, learn and serve urban Cincinnati. Rev. Sharon Dittmar, a recognized leader of religious liberal activities in Greater Cincinnati, has been the minister for almost 10 years. Our 120 year old church was renovated two years ago; the sanctuary features Tiffany windows and wood-carvings by famed Cincinnati artist Henry Fry. Over 70 children participate in religious education each Sunday; services are attended by an average of over 150 adults. The congregation values our diverse membership, and supports a wide variety of music programming and social justice activities (i.e., youth work at the Drop In Center, hosting homeless as part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network, participation in the Police Collaborative and CeaseFire Cincinnati). There is an annual youth campout and women's retreat. In addition, there are frequent intergenerational social events, and regularly-scheduled adult education programs on world religion, economics, relationships, etc. Participation is in covenant support groups is open to members.
